CHERAI BEACH,THE GOLDEN BEACH OF KERALA

It was my desire to visit Cherai beach one of the most visited beaches in Kerala. I have been coying the idea of visiting cherai beach for a long time. I had already booked a room in ClubMahindra tourist Indriya resort which is one of best resorts in Cherai.  Cherai is near to Vypeen island in Ernakulam district of kerala. More over it is ideal spot for swimming in the sea. 

We  set out to Cherai after lunch at 1.30 pm on 20th February 2023. I was accompanied by my wife Lekha.The climate was very hot as the summer was fast approaching in the state. I am a resident of Thrissur city which is around 60 km from the Cherai beach resort. It takes only 90 minutes to reach club mahindra resort which is located on the side of Cherai beach. 

We reached the resort at 3.00 pm.We were received by a lady who extended warm welcome into the resort. After that I was asked to produce the identification proofs of both of us which is manadatory in all these resorts. A lemon juice was also served .Once the formalities are over I was alloted the room. I had parked my car in parking place and walked along with the same lady who accompanied me to the room. 

The room was spacious and very cool. Everything was maintained well in the resort.When  I asked about the tourist arrivals ,she told me that all rooms are full especially with north Indian tourists. The main reason for the tourists in this resort is that Cherai is very near to Kochi international airport at Nedumbassery. It takes only 50 minutes to reach the resort which is only 28 km away from the airport via Ankamali Manjali road.

Indriya Beach Resort and Spa consists of secluded luxury cottages, sumptuously appointed executive suites, banquet areas and a state of the art spa set on an elegant landscape dotted with palms and tropical plants. Nestled between the Cherai beach and lagoon, serenity is the order of the day. Lulled by the hush of the lagoon, the calls of tropical birds, canoes sending soft ripples through the water, the muttered voices of fishermen and in the background the muted growl of the sea, the hiss of waves descending on the beach - you are in the realm of forces primal and sensual


There is a big pond in the resort where fishing is aranged.those who like to do fishing.

You can see the backwaters behind me. Cherai is an island where one side beach and the other side is backwaters. This is unique about cherai. You wont see such places anywhere in kerala. 

 Once we have settled in the room it was time to take some rest. We decided to visit the beach at 5.30 pm once the beach become cooler.

At 5.30 we went to see the beach. Cherai beach is just opposite to the resort and is very near.So many tourists and locals were gathered at the beach to enjoy the evening.

Cherai beach is one of the most visited beaches in Kerala state. Seashells on Cherai beach are unique. It is very long beach. 15 km long Cherai beach is very clean. It is very shallow and is ideal for swimming, surfing, and sunbathing. The highmasts and light  make the beach very beautiful in the night.


If you are coming from the north it is very near to kodungallur on NATIONAL HIGHWAY 66.if you are coming from airport come to paravur in NH 66 and take Cherai beach road from paravur 

It is high time Kerala govt to do some more infrastructural works to make it friendly to the old people by constructing necessary steps etc.

We had spent around 2 hours in beach seeing the sunset. 






 Cherai Beach was very beautiful. Sand was golden. Seashells were glittering on the sand. The time is 6.30 pm and the sun was going down.Small children were playing in the water.I had seen a couple were enjoying the sea while their small child was standing near the water.The mother was a white and the father was Indian.

I was remembering this song seeing the way waves are kissing the shore and going back and forth.
I always felt very happy while going to the beach.It is a truth that everyone loves to go to the beach.Beach is one of the most popular vacation spots.

I still remember my first experience going beach .It was during my upper primary classes. During those days one day was ear marked for going to the beach. I remember going to Kazhimbram beach nearer to my school. We had taken our lunch also with us .After taking bath in the sea we came back to school in the evening. it was a really beautiful experience in my life

At 6.30 pm we came back to resort. We had to take bath and after taking bath  we went to the restaurant at 8.pm.The restaurant was very near to the swimming pool.All kind of non vegetarian and vegetarian food were available in the restaurant. Different dishes made of chicken was a specialty in this resort. So many varieties of Kerala as well as North Indian food was available in the restaurant. The waiters in the  dining hall were very smart and active. we had a sumptuous dinner.  

We had met a couple who were coming from Kunnamkulam nearer to Thrissur. By 9.00 pm we finished dinner and came back to room.





Next day morning we went again to Cherai beach. It was 7 am.There were not much people present in the beach. Some stray dogs were sleeping. I have seen a country boat coming back to the shore after fishing. We went towards it and found that the




catch was very low. There were some small fishes as well as some crabs lying in the boat.The fishermen who were in the boat were  not happy and told me that the there were no fish nearby for thev last one week or so. We asked them how much is the money the expect for this in lumpsum for which they repllied as 350/-

this shows how vulnerable these fishermen are .they were in the sea for 4 0r 5 hours in which 3 or 4 fishermen are going in these boats.therewere spending money on kerosene also.After 4 to 6 hours of  hard catching it is really pitiful that they got only this much.This is really pathetic. Some days are like this.

After one hour of walk in this beautiful beach we came back to our room in the resort .After taking bath we had good break fast from the resort. A no  of Kerala a and north Indian dishes were available.

At 11 0 clock we came back to thrissur.The trip to Cherai beach and the stay at club mahindra resort was really memorable.

ഒരു കൊടൈക്കനാൽ യാത്ര

 പ്രഭാത സവാരി  എന്നും രാവിലെ 6.45നാണ് ആരംഭിക്കാറുള്ളത് .ഏകദേശം 45 മിനിറ്റ് മുതൽ ഒരു മണിക്കൂർ വരെ നീളുന്ന ഒന്നാണതു .ഹൃദയത്തിന് തീർച്ചയായും ഗുണം ചെയ്യും .കൂടാതെ ബ്ലഡ് പ്രഷർ കുറയ്ക്കാനും നല്ലതാണ് നടക്കുന്നതെന്നു സ്വാനുഭവത്തിൽ നിന്ന്   ഞാൻ മനസ്സിലാക്കിയിരുന്നു. ഏകദേശം 20 കൊല്ലമായി ഈ വ്യായാമം തുടങ്ങിയിട്ടു. തീർച്ചയായും വലിയ ആരോഗ്യപ്രശ്നങ്ങൾ ഇല്ലാതിരിക്കാൻ ഈ പ്രക്രിയ ബലമേകിയിട്ടുണ്ടെന്നു  വേണം കരുതാൻ.  അങ്ങനെ ഒരു ദിവസം കൂട്ടുകാരോടൊതു നടക്കുമ്പോഴാണ് കൂടെയുള്ള ടോജൻ നമുക്ക് ഒരു ടൂർ പോകാമല്ലോ എന്ന് അഭിപ്രായപ്പെടുന്നത്. കൂടെയുള്ള സഗീറും ഹനീഫയും അതിനോട് യോജിച്ചു. ഉടൻ സഗീർ ഒരു ആശയമെടുത്തിട്ടു. എൻറെ സുഹൃത്തിന് കൊടൈക്കനാലിൽ  ഒരു റിസോർട്ട്  ഉണ്ട്, അദ്ദേഹം പറഞ്ഞു. നമുക്ക് അവിടെ രണ്ടുദിവസം ചെലവഴിക്കാം. ബുക്കിംഗ് മറ്റും ഞാൻ ഏറ്റെടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു  എന്നും അദ്ദേഹം പറഞ്ഞു. 25 വർഷങ്ങൾക്കു മുമ്പാണ് ഞാൻ കൊടൈക്കനാൽ സന്ദർശിച്ചത്. അന്ന് കുട്ടികൾ എല്ലാം സ്കൂളിൽ പഠിക്കുന്ന കാലം. ചെറിയ ഒരു ഓർമ്മയുണ്ട്കൊടൈക്കനാലിനെ കുറിച്ച്. അന്ന് സ്വന്തമായി ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന മാരുതി 800 കാർ സ്വയം...
